On Friday, June 12, 2026, we will host our 11th AWLF Online Summit via Zoom.
AWLF Online Summit is a recurring, dialogue-based series designed as “A Third Place to Connect with Asian Women Leaders.” It brings together participants across generations and borders to engage in meaningful conversations, learn from lived experiences, and reflect on leadership and life.
Our special guest for this session is Dr. Chizu Sekine — a leader who has navigated the full arc of technology, corporate management, and board governance across four decades, and who now dedicates her expertise to empowering the next generation of women leaders across Asia.
Joining Sumitomo Chemical in 1989, Dr. Sekine spent nearly 20 years in research and development of advanced materials for the display industry, including liquid crystal materials, LCD optical films, and polymer organic EL light-emitting materials. She went on to lead business development in the organic EL sector and drive commercialization in the display and lighting fields, before serving as a Board Member of Sumitomo Chemical. In 2020, she became President and CEO of Sumika Technical Information Service Co., Ltd., where she led the company’s mission of converting technical knowledge into business value.
Today, she serves as Outside Director at KOKUSAI ELECTRIC, R-Biopharm Japan, and SBS Holdings, contributing to corporate governance and strategic decision-making. As a Director of AWLF, she works to build a society where women can choose their own paths — in career, leadership, and life.
At this session, Dr. Sekine will share her journey across science and management, and her vision for how Asia’s women leaders can drive sustainable, inclusive transformation — from the inside out.
