WOMEN LEADERS OF ASIA

With the current international circumstances, we are in the midst of a turning point. Through these events, we are asked to think about the “important essence” for the next generation. For beautiful earth, for a beautiful Asia. I believe these questions encourage us to strengthen the diversity, spirits of lifelong learning and collaboration, and culture of care.

While Asia holds a diverse culture and prosperity that generations are proud of, many issues remain unresolved.Through profiles and interviews with Asian women active on the frontlines, AWLF will convey the thoughts of women leaders, the appeal of each country, and the real issues in each country.

Through their thoughts and candid efforts to make changes on the front. We can learn what it is like through their lenses as active social members, women, and societal leaders. In Asia, many female leaders have fulfilled their destiny and made Asia what it is today. While they have made remarkable achievements, the majority of these achievements are not generational.

Issues regarding social equality such as gender equality, poverty eradication, and conflict resolution require a sustainable framework that can be inherited across generations.

With heartfelt gratitude and respect, I would like to share stories from these inspirational women as a powerful and gentle reminder. This includes passed Asian women leaders’ thoughts and lifetime achievements. I want to pass on the baton from our predecessors to the next generation so they can use their wisdom and experience as guidance in the modern age.

AWLF aims to be a bridge across borders, generations, and industries, connecting Asian leaders who are active on the frontlines of the industry, and to be an association that nurtures collaborative creation and leadership spirits.

In the heart of our hearts, we aim to be an organization that can grow together with you for the betterment of Asia.

A key driver of progress and sustainable development lies in promoting and strengthening equal opportunities for leadership at all levels of decision-making in political, economic, and public life. Women leaders are making a profound impact across the Asia-Pacific region. Their presence in local, state, and national governments has contributed to higher female voter turnout, more gender-sensitive policies, and a stronger focus on improving social, health, and safety services.
In the business world, evidence suggests that a higher proportion of women in leadership is strongly associated with improved profitability. Yet for too many women across Asia and the Pacific, leadership remains out of reach.

The Asian women leaders featured here have attained significant political influence in their respective countries across Asia. To date, more than a dozen women have led governments in modern Asia, including several who have governed predominantly Muslim nations.
