On August 8, 2023, we paid a courtesy visit to Ms. Mayumi Murayama, Executive Vice President of the Institute of Developing Economies, Japan External Trade Organization (IDE-JETRO), and Ms. Chie Kashiwabara, Director-General / Chief Librarian of the Academic information Center of the Institute of Developing Economies, Japan External Trade Organization (IDE-JETRO).
The Institute of Developing Economies, Japan External Trade Organization (IDE-JETRO) is a government-affiliated organization that conducts research on issues facing emerging and developing economies around the world and the international community, and disseminates the results of that research. More than 100 researchers are gathered there, which is the largest in the world.
We also visited the IDE-JETRO Library next to IDE-JETRO. The IDE-JETRO Library is open to the public, and holds more than 700,000 materials related to not only Asia but also emerging and developing countries. It is a very valuable special library, with the latest local newspapers sold in each country, and materials that are only available here in Japan.
In addition, a librarian with specialized knowledge can help you find the material. It is a wonderful library with so many good books that half a day is not enough time, and I would like to visit regularly to deepen my knowledge of Asia again. If you are interested, please drop by.
